Classroom Salmon Raffle

Purpose: To raise money to purchase new aquaria setups for local teachers participating in the Classroom Aquarium Education Program (aka "Salmonids In The Classroom"). Each classroom setup requires a one-time cost of $650. Chico Area Flyfishers owns the equipment and loans it to local teachers who have undergone the training with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. I personally participated in this program in 1995 when I taught science at Fair View High School and Bob Smith was the club coordinator. Once the eggs have hatched and the fish become fry, the classrooms have a field trip to Riverbend Park in Oroville where the fry are released back into the Feather River.
